Our Team

We are a team of lifelong animal lovers who turned our passion into our profession.

Paige Massey, DVM

Dr. Paige is a Southshore native and graduate of Ecole Classique. She double majored in Anthropology and Biology at Ole Miss before going into Veterinary Medicine at LSU. While at LSU, she particularly enjoyed working as a laboratory instructor for undergraduate histopathology students. Dr. Paige started her career in Metairie before moving north in 2002.

After working as an associate in several other practices, she decided it was time to have a hospital of her own and teamed up with Dr. Alissa to found Monroe Street Animal Hospital. Business ownership must run in the blood, as she learned the principles of management from her parents, who started Massey’s Sporting Goods.

Dr. Paige loves all aspects of small animal medicine and has a particular interest in soft tissue surgery. She continues to work part-time at the St. Bernard Animal Shelter, where she is their primary surgeon.

When she steps away from the hospital, she lives in Covington with her husband and teenage daughter. Their family also includes a sweet Boxer, three precocious cats, a friendly lizard, and a very chill Betta fish.

Alissa Whitney, DVM

Dr. Alissa is almost a Mandeville native, having moved here in 1980. After graduating from Mandeville High, she attended MIT, where she studied Brain and Cognitive Science. She spent seven years as a high school Science teacher before attending vet school at LSU. Dr. Alissa was in the middle of her senior clinical rotations when Hurricane Katrina hit, and she considers the aftermath of the storm to have been the best part of her education.

She met Dr. Paige when they worked together at another practice; they realized that they made a good team and decided to take the leap and start a hospital of their own. The fact that her family still lives a few blocks away is a happy bonus.

Dr. Alissa particularly enjoys Internal Medicine and preventative health cases. She also has a special interest in shelter medicine after working in a variety of rescue settings. She does sometimes miss her time as a teacher and spent several years as an adjunct instructor for the Veterinary Technology program at Northshore Technical Community College.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and their many, many animals. They have three outgoing Heeler mixes and three very spoiled cats.

Samantha Ashley

Samantha is a Madisonville native who grew up in Mandeville and graduated from MHS. She later studied Biological Engineering at LSU. Since moving back home, she has worked in management and customer service at several local businesses. Samantha now brings her experience and love for animals to the front of the house here at Monroe Street.

Away from work, Samantha is in charge of a husband, one son, two daughters, two dogs, and three cats. As if that wasn’t enough to keep her busy, she is also a passionate fiber artist. She knits and hand weaves, and has been teaching herself to spin yarn and sew. She recently started Bayou Lily Handwoven in order to share her creations with the public.

RachelAnn Harb, RVT

Rachel, who is originally from Chalmette, moved to Mandeville with her family in the early ’90s. She attended OLL, MJH, and MHS, so Monroe Street is part of her old stomping grounds. She studied Veterinary Technology at Delgado and has extensive experience in Emergency Medicine, Ophthalmology, and practice management.

Rachel is now teaching full-time for Delgado Community College’s Veterinary Technology program and working at Monroe Street on alternate weekends. In her down time, Rachel enjoys volunteering with her church and spending time at the lakefront. She now lives in Covington with her wonderful, supportive husband of 20 years and their son and daughter. While the family has a variety of animals, Rachel considers herself a crazy cat lady.

Ashley Schwab

As a child, Ashley decided to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. She grew up in Mandeville and attended Fontainebleau High School, making her our only Bulldog. Later, she was part of the first graduating class from Delgado’s Veterinary Technician Program. Over the course of her career, she has primarily worked in specialty practice, with a focus on Internal Medicine. She has a particular fondness for forensic shows, probably because of her Medicine background. She also likes to do nail art, a nice creative hobby to balance out all those analytic tendencies.

Ashley and her daughter have a beautiful cat named Loki, who lives up to his mischievous name.

Regan Higgins-Lang

Regan is a true Mandeville native and another graduate of MHS. She did fieldwork in Costa Rica before earning her degree in Biology from Southeastern, then came back home to raise her family. A talented glass artist, you may have seen her working at other local businesses, including her family’s studio, A Pane in the Glass. (Fun fact: Regan designed and made the stained glass panel that hangs at our front desk.)

When she isn’t at Monroe Street, she wrangles her son, two cats, a neurotic Chihuahua, and a growing number of plants. During the pandemic, Regan earned her realtor’s license and started selling houses as a side gig.

Marley Ellis

Marley came to us with the ultimate goal of working in wildlife rehabilitation. As you might imagine, she enjoys exploring the great outdoors and has a special passion for animals. As a matter of fact, she met her dog, Ferngully, while working in a shelter facility. In her free time, she relaxes by practicing yoga and getting creative with acrylic pours.

Fun facts about Marley: She graduated Lakeshore high, making her our only Titan. She is mostly vegetarian.

Tiffany Sentilles Locke

Tiffany is an honorary southerner — she was born in Illinois, but moved to Picayune, Mississippi when she was seven. She is a graduate of Vanguard College of Cosmetology and has been a licensed cosmetologist since 2007. She keeps a devoted clientele and travels to install and maintain dreadlocks. We are taking full advantage of her skill set! When isn’t grooming, she is assisting the doctors and filling in at the desk.

In her free time, Tiffany dotes on her five hairless cats and Gerkin the gecko. She has a variety of interests, including tattoos, taxidermy, and related oddities. She is our resident vegan.

Your pet’s happiness is essential and at the heart of our veterinary practice. From the moment you walk in the door you’ll find our facility different than a typical veterinary clinic! We are shameless spoilers of animals in our happy, vibrantly colorful environment, staffed with dedicated veterinary professionals!
